what do you do when you miss him?

Mike is away at a ministry conference this weekend. Sigh. I miss him. I know you think it's silly. How could I possibly miss him?!! but I do.

I thought that if I distracted myself by being busy surely it would take my mind off of it. Ha! But I ended up doing things that in some way involved Michael. I read a book he and I have been discussing and in a sudden urge I obsessively set about creating 11 montages on canvas with messages on them while listening to The Ditty Bops.

I feel better now. I think I'll go drink coffee with my friends ...

What do you do when you miss someone you care about? How do you fill your time?

I write emo blog posts and read patristic theology.

mostly I distract myself by doing something else like reading, sometimes writing, and mostly playing computer games and consuming vast amounts of junk food. And if I was in America, I'd drink saranac root beer. But they don't have that here in Australia, so I have to settle for water or coke when I have it.

When Jamie goes out of town, I try to do some major project. Once when he left, I painted our son's bedroom...another time I made curtains for the living room. I have young kids, so I try to do something fun with them that I wouldn't do otherwise...like pitch a tent in the living room and "camp out."

Welcome to my world!! Umm, take up volleyball. Roam around the city and find great new spots with a tazo chai tea in hand. Hmm, send cute thinking of you cards to friends and family!! Rearrange your closet!! I miss him too much!! :(

I can't really say I've been away from Luke that long, and when I have, I was very busy on a study tour and staying with friends, so I was distracted. I still called him every night though! When he's away for short times and I'm at home, I catch up with friends as much as possible, read booksm get early nights. Generally try and enjoy the extra time if I can!

Hmmm, Detlev and I have spent many many weeks apart and it's just not good. I usually do more work, get myself as tired as possible, and hope I will be able to sleep. And I pray and read the Bible more too.

Sometimes when Mike is away, I find myself daydreaming, imagining what he would say and do if he was here.
No only joking. Mike gets in the way more often than not.
But when I am feeling alone, I distract myself with work or hobbies. Once I got a fulltime job for 3 years. Another time I watched a romantic comedy. Never again.

Well I didn't start missing home until I missed my flight on Thursday and can't get out until Monday (I hate terroists). I have just been trying to keep my mind off of it by staying busy. Checking email, studying for classes that start next week...you know busy work.

I try to fill each day with something to look forward to; I make sure I have a friend over for some of the time AB's away; I stay up way too late (not a good thing); and I'm usually a bit of an emotional mess by the time he returns - because I miss him when he's away.

It's much easier being the one who goes away, than the one left behind.

I do something irrational like talk to someone who looks like him.

i tried the re-decorating idea. it helped quite a bit. i'll post pictures. and then of course there is seeking the company of girlfriends and doing silly things like seeing how high and how far behind you you can spit watermelon seeds on a warm summer evening followed by watching West Side Story.
