married for one month, part 6

Laura asked:

Do you recommend stirring up controversy as a way to catch a husband? HA!

Christine responds:

I recommend being honest AND gracious about your convictions. Do not hide your intelligence because you think it will scare men off. But beware of flaunting it.

I realize that this one may not make it in the section that “gets read” (haven’t been able to check in a few days). However, I, for one, as a man, totally agree with Christine… I find it very appealing when a lady has a brain, annoying when she doesn’t, and repulsive when she tries to hide the one she has. Insecurity is the only reason I can think of that a man would not want an intelligent woman. If that is the case, he is not ready to lead. I realize this is slightly off the original question, but jumped off of Christine’s comment.
Also, to address the question, as one individual, in the grand scheme insignificant, and as a male… I would caution anyone from stirring up controversy for the sake of controversy or for starting a fight in order to see how the other person reacts (though I suspect the original comment was intended as an allusion to the ckhnat blog). This is a very “southern American” saying, but holds true… “if you tease a dog, you might get bit.” Ok, now that I’ve rambled and preached from my own soap-box! ;)
